We are thrilled to announce that we are transitioning from our legacy status page to a brand-new, upgraded one. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to provide Ably users with the best possible developer experience.

Our legacy status page has served us well, but technology and customer needs are constantly evolving. We recognized the need for a platform that can keep pace with these changes and offer an improved experience. The new status page is hosted on an industry standard platform, ensuring better performance, security, and scalability.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s changing and how it benefits you.

What’s changing?

The new status page has already gone live! If you are an existing Ably status page subscriber we will migrate your subscription to the new system automatically. You will receive a verification email to complete the process, simply accept if you wish to continue receiving updates.

The current Ably status page will still be available at https://status.ably.com until 23rd July 2024. At this stage the page will point to the new one.

How the new status page benefits you

We’ve adopted an industry-standard solution, Atlassian Statuspage, which will offer a more modern design, improved functionality, and enhanced features to keep you better informed. It will offer three key improvements in functionality:

  • Configurable multi-channel notifications: Choose how you want to receive updates, with options including email, SMS, and push notifications.
  • Improved integrations: Seamless integration with popular tools and platforms, enabling you to monitor status updates within your existing workflows.
  • Ably available as a third party component: Ably will be listed as a third party component by Atlassian Statuspage. This means that you can add Ably to your status page if you also use Statuspage, and reflect the status of Ably services.

As well as the above, customers using dedicated clusters will be able to subscribe to only get alerts related to their services.

With these new capabilities in place, we hope you will benefit from:

  • Better communication and alerts: Stay informed with realtime updates and detailed information about any issues affecting our services by opting in to receive proactive notifications about service status changes through multiple channels, tailored to your preferences.
  • Increased transparency: Understand the nature of incidents and the steps being taken to resolve them through detailed reports.
  • Enhanced workflow integration: Benefit from improved integrations with your existing tools, streamlining your monitoring processes by subscribing to alerts to Slack, Microsoft Teams and using webhooks.

We believe these enhancements will significantly improve your experience and keep you more informed and in control. Our goal is to ensure that you have the most reliable and accessible service information at your fingertips.
