  • Ably supports Ukraine

By: Paddy Byers 2 min read

We at Ably are deeply concerned about the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022. We stand with the people of Ukraine and all those who are suffering as a result of the violence, and join the voices around the world calling for peace.

We are taking several concrete steps to respond to these events. We support the various charities that are providing humanitarian assistance to the victims of the violence and have contributed to the British Red Cross. In addition to a company contribution, we are matching all charitable contributions made by staff to this and other relevant charities.

Further, we believe that the rest of the world must demonstrate its intolerance of the actions of the Russian Federation unequivocally and comprehensively using all economic means possible. As a result, we are reviewing the service we provide to all entities based in Russia, and will suspend service to those entities, except in the specific case of operations that are overtly humanitarian in nature. Although the affected entities are not directly related to government or military operations, we believe that supporting Russia-based businesses indirectly supports the economy of the Russian Federation which, in turn, further undermines the sovereignty of Ukraine. On the same basis, we are suspending our trading relationships with suppliers based in Russia. These suspensions are until further notice, and we will continue to monitor the situation.

If you are an Ably customer, and wish to have our assistance in enforcement of any restrictions over access to your own services, please contact us. Similarly, if you think we can help to support any applications or services that will assist the state or people of Ukraine in any way, please contact us.

We sincerely hope that the suffering and injustice resulting from the actions of the Russian Federation and its allies are limited by the collective actions of governments and private entities worldwide, and encourage others to take action to deter and inhibit the continuing efforts of Russia, as well as assist Ukraine and its people.
