We're excited to announce that we've expanded the moderation capabilities for Ably Chat by introducing two new moderation providers: Bodyguard, Tisane.
This enhancement builds upon our recent launch of Moderation for Ably Chat, designed to ensure safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable chat experiences for all users. With these new providers, you now have greater flexibility when choosing which moderation service best fits the needs of your community.

Bodyguard
Bodyguard offers powerful content moderation through a flexible API. It analyzes messages in context to detect and categorize inappropriate content based on your chosen criteria. Each analysis includes detailed insights, helping you take the right moderation actions in your chat environment.
The platform uses a REST API and integrates smoothly with Ably Chat, enabling automated moderation that quickly flags and removes toxic behavior, bullying, and harassment.
Tisane
Tisane provides automated content moderation through an API that uses Natural Language Understanding (NLU) to analyze user-generated content. It flags and categorizes messages based on your moderation criteria, giving you detailed insights into the type and location of any potentially harmful content. This helps you decide how best to handle moderation in your chat rooms.
For organizations that prefer more control, Tisane also offers an on-premises version of their moderation engine, which can be easily integrated with Ably Chat.

Together, these providers significantly expand the moderation toolkit available to developers using Ably Chat, allowing them to build richer, safer, and more dynamic chat applications. And this is just the start, with support for Microsoft Azure’s AI Content Safety service coming soon, so stay tuned.
